The scenic cycle track has an excellent hard surface, and for much of its course it is as wide as many country lanes.
The track skirts the western edge of the main mountains of Snowdonia with good views of the Nantlle ridge andan occasional glimpse of Snowdon in the distance. To the south the mountains of the Llyn peninsula descend into the sea.
About 5 miles south of Caernarfon, there is a cafe at the Inigo Jones slate museum, which is just off the path. The Cafe is now open daily, Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5pm; Saturday and Sundays 9am to 5pm.
